Air Intake

Item Sample Picture Function
Air Compressor The primary function of a truck air compressor is to supply compressed air for the truck air suspension and braking systems. Typically, this type of compressor is driven by the truck's engine. The air compressor builds the air pressure for the air suspension, auxiliary components and brake system.
Air Governor The governor, which is usually compressor mounted, operates in conjunction with the compressor and maintains reservoir air pressure between a predetermined maximum and minimum pressure.
Charge Air Cooler The charge air cooler (CAC) is attached to the front of the radiator. The function of the CAC is to cool the hot, compressed air that exits the turbocharger. The CAC reduces the temperature of this air to the engine manufacturers' specified air intake temperature before the air reaches the engine intake manifold. The lower temperature reduces exhaust emissions, improves fuel economy, and increases horsepower.
Engine Air Filter An engine air filter prevents your engine from being damaged with dirt, dust, sand, and other contaminants, but if it becomes clogged, your engine air filter can start to negatively impact your vehicle performance.
Intake-Air Restriction Indicator Measures the air flow restriction through the air cleaner element via a tap in the air cleaner outlet.
